I specialise in making vestments, banners and frontals for churches.
I work to commission and each piece is unique.
When designing individual stoles (such as ordination stoles) I look for symbols that have
special meaning for that person and try to reflect something of their personality in the piece. Prices vary according to the
material and complexity of design, with a minimum of about £120 for a stole.
In my altar frontals, vestments and banners I strive to fit the designs to harmonise with
the architecture and colours in the church. I also take into account the style of services held there. I want to create an
atmosphere to inspire and help the congregation to meditate and reflect.
When I receive a commission for an altar frontal, I like to visit the church and talk to
the people involved. After a few weeks, I will then produce a design and estimate, which may be acceptable or can be
used as a basis for further discussion. The minimum cost for an altar frontal and set is around £1000 and, again, the
price is dependant on materials and the amount of work involved.
I am also happy to give advice to any group who is undertaking a project of their own.
